It looks like Sen. Ted Cruz is the new leader of House Republicans, not John Boehner.
It looks like the day that Eric Cantor officially steps down as majority leader and Kevin McCarthy takes over is the day where the House Republican leadership spins out of control on a border bill vote - leading them to delay the August recess for all of one day in order to avoid having it hang over their heads when they go back home to their districts soon.
This comes after the House GOP pulled the border bill from the floor after a failure to get the majority of the conference to vote for it. The bill may have passed if it was brought to the floor, with enough Republicans (although not a majority of the conference) and Democrats to vote for it, but the new leadership wants to satisfy the extremes of their own party before the American people.
